ASHLEY LLOYD - TREASURER

Ashley has loved dancing ever since she began taking classes at the age of 3 and loves how she is able to continue dancing throughout college with Jaywalk. Ashley grew up in the Philadelphia area where she learned ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, pointe, and acrobatics at The Dance Academy. She was a member of the competition team at TDA for 6 years. Dancing with the Jaywalk girls is one of Ashley’s favorite ways to relax after a stressful week of studying!
MALENA SILVA

Malena began dancing at the age of 6 at the Ballet Royale Institute of Maryland. She has studied Vaganova style ballet in addition to jazz, modern, tap, and lyrical styles. She previously performed in the annual BRIM Nutcracker for 10 years in addition to various galas featuring works such as La Bayadere and Sleeping Beauty. She is absolutely ecstatic to be able to continue dancing with the talented, hilarious, and unforgettable girls on Jaywalk.
MELANIE SHIMANO - CAPTAIN

Melanie Shimano comes from Orange County, CA, and is thrilled to be dancing with Jaywalk at Johns Hopkins University! Melanie has been dancing since the age of five, and has been trained in several dance styles including classical ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, pom, musical theater, and contemporary dance. She has danced lead roles in several full-length ballets, and she has won high honors at numerous ballet and dance competitions such as second-place overall at the Youth America Grand Prix International Ballet Competition as a ballet soloist, and First-Place Overall at the American Grand Nationals with her high school dance team in Las Vegas. Melanie is currently involved in research at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and other student groups on campus including the Phi Mu Sorority and the Hopkins Hosting Society.

Psychology
Carrie has been dancing since the age of 3 and trained with Philadelphia Dance Theatre in ballet, modern, and jazz. She has performed in The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Wizard of Oz, and many other ballets, as well as participated and performed in Regional Dance America festivals. When not dancing with the wonderful girls of Jaywalk, she enjoys volunteering with JHU Tutorial Project, doing yoga, cooking, and spending time with friends.
JORDAN BLEIBTREU

Jordan is from Los Angeles, CA and loves to dance. She has danced since she was 3 years old and competed and performed on a team for 8 years. Jordan has danced at NBA games, Disneyland and countless competitions and other performance venues. She could not imagine not dancing, and Jaywalk has been an amazing way to continue dancing in college.

Film and Media Studies
Maria is from Lake Forest, Illinois and began dancing at the age of 3. She studied ballet, jazz, pointe, lyrical, tap and modern at Jenny’s Dance Centre for 11 years. With JDC, Maria competed and performed at various venues in the Chicago area and around the country. Being a part of Jaywalk is such a fun way to continue dancing JHU, and Maria looks forward to the fun of practice every week!
NATALIE RICHMOND - TREASURER

Natalie Richmond began dancing at the age of 4 at Miller Street Dance Academy in Charlotte, NC. She competed with the Miller Street Competition Team in jazz, tap, and contemporary for 8 years and performed in the Nutcracker. She is grateful for being able to continue dancing in college with her fellow Jaywalk members. Outside of Jaywalk, Natalie enjoys participating in research at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, tutoring with the Hopkins Tutorial Project, and being part of the Hopkins Christian Fellowship.
DANIELLE SULLIVAN

Neuroscience
Danielle was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where she began dancing at the age of 3. At Ballet Hawaii Dance Studio and Punahou Dance School, she has been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hula, tahitian, and hip hop. Danielle has been in numerous dance and musical theater shows, and was on her school’s dance team. While not dancing, Danielle goes to the beach, goes out to eat with friends, and facebook creeps. She is very excited to be dancing with Jaywalk!
